I haven’t been as diligent with this blog and my cooking blog. My attentions are turned toward the house and yard, which need work. We’re estimating a paint job on the exterior of the house these days…

There’s a wildlife refuge next to us, so we get a healthy share of critters in our yard: ducks, geese, deer, and even a peacock! And I never knew that peacocks can actually fly- did you know that? The thing flew up into one of our trees and made the weirdest sounds.

She’s beautiful. I wrote a little post (with more photos) about her at my New York Renovator blog. She is such a sweet cat. But she also shows signs of being a superb mouser, and we need one right about now. (This is mouse-breeding season).
