Colonial Days

Old Writing Desk

This old writing desk (a good reproduction) is on display at Fort Stanwix in Rome, NY. Unbelievably, such display are out in the open– not behind glass enclosures– for visitors to handle. Despite the multitudes of visitors and hands touching the displays, everything is in such good condition–all taken care of very well. The people’s pride of our history really shines through with how well the displays are treated.

Three Wooden Buckets

Another photo from our trip to Fort Stanwix in Rome, NY. The fort has many small displays of everyday colonial life. We love going there. Life was so much simpler 250 years ago… but so much harder, too.

Salute to Flag

Another photo from our July 4th excursion to Fort Stanwix in Rome, NY. These are my four children, extremely patriotic. :)

Fort Stanwix Scene

This is from a photo taken on July 4th, in Rome, NY. The fort in the center of the city– Historic Fort Stanwix, a national park, sits slightly higher than the surrounding neighborhood. The view is good and the breeze is delicious up here.

Lovely Stargazer Lilies

Stargazer Lilies

*sigh*

Aren’t they lovely? They smell absolutely delicious, and their scent fills the entire garden. These are the flowers I look forward to every summer.
