Conversation With My Son

27 Jan

The kids have their computers in various places in the house. We keep in contact through an instant messenger (its better than yelling). My 16 year-old, who had been with me for the longest time in the living room, was recently moved to a desk in the dining room. He is relatively new to instant messenger, and is still learning the ropes in making quick, succinct messages. We had this conversation today…. kind of…. the IM doesn’t show it, but the time lapse between his responses to mine were about 20-30 seconds. That’s nearly an eternity in IM-time. lol.

The Bird Watcher

The Bird Watcher

My cat, Livvy, sometimes drives us nuts because she is bored in the house. Siamese need stimulation, and, well, I’m too busy to entertain her right now. So I placed our bird feeder a little closer to the house– outside a window– where she can perch and watch them.

The feeder has been out there for two days, and nary a bird (that I knew of). Perhaps it is too close to the house?

But today a brave (and noisy) Bluejay arrived to quickly pick through the feeder. He must have been hungry enough to endure Livvy’s stares and wildly flickering tail, but as soon as his starvation was stayed, he amscrayed as fast as he could.

I’m hoping that his bravado will encourage other birds- like the chickadees and cardinals that I love so much. IF they can handle all of us crowded around the window to watch!

Road Rash: Winter Edition

15 Jan

Soooo… what’s the term for Road Rash when it’s winter time?

LOL. This was taken by my daughter. She just LOVES taking those action photos, doesn’t she! Good heavens, WHERE does she get that WEIRDO sense of humor from?! It must be from her father!

I also think my son has been playing “2Xtreme Snowboarding” a TAD too often these days….

The Dormancy

Portrait in White

Oh my , how I have spent a long winter’s nap with this blog! I am not a very dedicated photographer, am I? I’m thinking of handing this blog over to my daughter. Of course, she’s busy, too… but not as busy as I am, heh heh. And she only runs ONE blog!

This photo is last year’s winter blast. We’ve seen much colder temperatures this year, although very little snow. During my childhood, I remember making large castles of snow, filled with large furniture made of snow. My children have had sparse snow experiences. And here I thought my snow memories were common winter weather patterns; it turns out the 70s were rather snowy for the time… too bad. I’d like my kids to experience snow furniture sometime. I’ll be sure to do something my parents never did: take photos.
