Just Desserts

ApplePieSlice

Mmmm. I mentioned on my cooking blog that we have been on a pie baking binge. This is one of the apple pies we recently made. Last night, we made a Pear Berry Pie that was heavenly. How I wish berries grew like apples! I would have them every day. I know, I know, after eating mounds and mounds of desserts, I’d no doubt be on a quest for weight loss supplements that work… *sigh* I LOOK at food and gain weight. :-p Not fair.

Part of our baking spree has to do with trying to keep warm. The oven is a good little source of heat, as well as filling the house with marvelous smells. Winter is nipping at our heels…

Just a Tiny Taste…

…of autumn’s chores that await us.

LeafMass

And the leaves haven’t even STARTED to fall off the trees yet, truly.
:|

They sure are pretty, though. I have an autumn scene of my lcd monitor desktop. The air is crispy, the wind is brisk…. but with the change in season also falls a slew of more chores to attend. Whew. I haven’t caught up since spring yet!

At any rate, my fall is turning out to be very slow. I feel so lazy, but given my propensity for over-work, I guess that’s just another way of saying I’m not working 20 hours a day right now. Although, I should be. There’s enough to do around here to keep an army busy. But thinking about it makes me tired, to want to take a nap.

Which isn’t such a bad idea right about now…

The New Pups

Well, they are now over a year old. When does a dog stop being a pup, and become a dog?

Anyway, this is just after their much-needed bath. Wow, dogs can be pretty stinky. lol. I am a cat person. I dislike most dogs, or am tolerant of some. Of all dogs, I like Yorkies the best, because they are so small and it’s easier to keep them contained and kept clean. And you don’t need a full-fledged super-liability insurance quote on Yorkies in the home, like you probably do with monster pit bulls or other dangerous dogs.

So life is, yeah. BUSY right now. What an understatement. Which reminds me, I’d better get off the computer and get back to work…

My Sweet Sweet Baby

LivvyDogs6

Oooohhh isn’t she the cutest little thing?!?!

That’s my beautiful kitty, Livvy. She’s a Tabby Point Siamese. In this photo, she is trying to reach up to sniff the two new Yorkie dogs my daughter adopted. She is just so innocent, so curious. It makes me love her more. And in case you are wondering why her paws look so funny, she’s a polydactyl cat, with six toes on each paw. It makes he a tad clumsy, but it makes her look like she has thumbs. When her paws are rolled up– curled into a fist– it makes her look like those old Victorian casters on chairs, with the claw feet. She is so unique, so sweet. I love my kitty.

She is more curious than anything about the dogs. They bark, so she doesn’t like that. If they didn’t bark, I think she’d love to play with them. But I don’t think cats like barking…. maybe if dogs never barked, cats would tolerate them and the enmity between the animals would cease? I wonder.

Food Glorious Food

All during the renovation, I didn’t have much interest in food. I was much too busy to eat (let alone cook). And it was a long, hot summer so eating wasn’t very appealing (unless it was popsicles).

Ah, but now we have our kitchen back. :D

And now it’s autumn.

YUM. Food is so good right now. I especially love brussels sprouts and broccoli, currently. A little salt, a little cheese.. YUM. And we also have had pasta TWICE since cooking in the new kitchen. Yay! My daughter made some pies, too. Oh wow, we haven’t had pie in eons. It was marvelous!

I have to be careful. I lost a little (a LITTLE, *sigh*) weight while renovating. It’s nice to have it off and keep it off. I don’t want to eat so much that I’ll need a tow truck and roadside assistance plan to get me places! But it is so good to eat good food again.

And now if you will excuse me, I have a hamburger waiting for me. :)
