This photo is not mine today. It’s an image from “Twitter/Nick Vitale.” It’s a sonar image taken off a boat on the Loch Ness. A tour guide spotted something on the sonar near the Urquart Castle. He watched as the image grew larger and larger, and he snapped a photo in amazement (mingled with alarm, no doubt).

You can read the story here.

Oh, I’m sure the “Nessie doubters” will be coming out of the woodwork, but I really think there’s something down there. Images like this aren’t created from a fallen log or bundle of sticks, no way. According to the news report, the thing in the sonar is estimated to be 75 feet long and 5 feet wide. WHOA.

It may be an eel… it may be a pleisosaur! I think it’s something. There have been too many eyewitness accounts and interesting images taken over the years.

What do you think?

Isn’t she adorable?!

On the other hand, she is being very BAD for laying on my table while it has a tablecloth. She knows she is not supposed to do that. She’s probably turning on the cuteness big time, trying to butter me up. :-p And it’s working.

She’s my little companion, you know. She tags along wherever I go. Sometimes (like now) when I am busy and not paying attention to her, she clambers all over the desk, the shelves, the printer (hitting the “on” button!)…. in the bedroom it’s worse. There, in the middle of the night, she tramples all over the bed, the pillows, the bedroom vanity– knocking things down as she goes. Ugh. I think it’s because she gets hungry. At 4 in the morning?!?!?!

But then I look at this photo and I realize why I spoil her so. Man, she’s cute. LOL

That’s one loooooong front tooth.

Photo was taken at The Cloisters in Manhattan. It’s a real narwhal tusk, which is actually the front tooth of the creature. The tusk was amazingly strong, and it was swirled like a seashell. It was also very old! Can you imagine a creature enduring life with such a large monstrosity projecting from it’s mouth? And I thought the saber-toothed tiger had it bad. Wow. This was all before medical spa insurance, too, HAHAHA!!

Anyway, I had a little fun with the idea of the narwhal tusk (and comparing it to the unicorn horn as many historians do) at my blog FreakyFrugalite.com.

I had no idea!

Sturgeon are wild-looking fish. I saw some in a tank at the Wild Center in Tupper Lake, NY.

They look like tiny dinosaurs. They remind me of the stegosaurus!

So I was a little surprised to see that sign, that warned about fishing sturgeon in the Hudson River. What do those fish eat, anyway?? What do they do? Why are they endangered? I’ll have to do some research. I also wonder what they taste like? lol… I love fish. Eaten regularly with plain vegetables, fish are veritable fat burners.

I will definitely have to look up these fish. My curiosity is piqued!
