Unwelcome Deer

14 Apr

Here they are. They’re scoping out my gardens, with eyes on my list of vegetables to grow this year.

DEER1

I used to love deer. But now I despise them. They eat EVERYTHING. How ironic that I used to want one of those majestic outdoor décor deer statues. No longer! I certainly don’t need one….

This is the largest group of deer I have seen wander into my yard. Usually, it’s two or three young ones, with a mother in the grass. This is a LOT of deer. I live in suburbia, too.

*sigh*

The deer have become a big problem. I wish the state wouldn’t so stupidly regulate them.

The Cupcake

2 Apr

LivvyCupcake

I think she looks like a cupcake when she is swirled up in her kitty tree. Well, it’s more like a kitty shrub, only about three feet high.

She’s taken to climbing up to the tops of the kitchen cabinets now. She loves her heights. I’ve been woefully neglectful of her lately, though. With the onset of spring, I am gearing up to gut a section of my old 1855 house– the kitchen! It’s a formidable project, to be sure. Everything must be replaced from scratch. I figure I will hire a plumber to come in and do the plumbing, but we are doing everything else. It’s going to be a crazy busy summer. I have a nephew graduating this year, so we’re expecting graduation announcements in a few months; however, he lives three hours away so I don’t foresee a long trip in the future, not with me working full-time and this renovation scheduled. I’m crunched for time, as I need to have the kitchen finished before school begins in September. So I’m on a schedule. I’m a little apprehensive– time and money are what is needed. That, and I have to study up on electrical wiring! But I will be SO SO happy to have this kitchen *finally* finished. I’ve been waiting over 10 years for this!

Those Glowing Siamese Eyes

30 Mar

LIvvyLokingatDog

Siamese cats’ eyes glow red when they are agitated or mischievous. Tabby cats with green eyes usually glow yellow; I find it slightly creepy that the Siamese glow red. This is my darling Livvy, inspecting the dog, Daisy. Daisy suffers from arthritis once in a while, and I’d brought her in to baby her a little. Livvy, the princess of the house, was not too pleased. She wasn’t a brat about it, just miffed. She eventually warmed up to Daisy (who wouldn’t hurt a fly).

Daisy and Livvy

Daisy is not much of a watchdog, wireless security systems are a must for security! Oh, she does woof at the Ugly Pooch Snatcher– what we call the UPS man– he’s a great guy, don’t get us wrong! But Daisy woofs like a maniac when she sees him. The UPS guy likes her and throws her biscuits, lol. So she’s not very terrifying, haha.

So I’ve been busy, nursing a dog and all the other jobs to do around here. Whew. I thought life would slow down a tad when I got older!

In other news, I’ve made some wonderful new friends out in blog-land. I’m really blessed by the discoveries– some folks are such good writers, good friends. They write from the heart. I look forward to their posts every day.
