Livvy and the Cricket Bug

Over the summer, while we renovated the kitchen and relocated into the garage, we allowed Livvy (my cat) into the previously verboten garage to be with us. Since the only thing separating us from the wild outdoors was a rickety old overhead garage door, we had lots of bugs join us in the cramped reverie. Fun. Earwigs, flies, bees, spiders, and the occasional cricket would squeeze between the door’s gaps and skitter under our feet.

Livvy took great interest in the crickets. I like crickets, and don’t mind them too much (they don’t sting). Livvy would go bananas when she heard the chirping of the cricket in some dark inaccessible corner of the garage. She would hunt for the critter between the storage boxes of books and Forex trading software, drive the poor creature out of his hiding place, and gently bat him so as to make him hop. She was fascinated with the critters.

Well, crickets are no more. Not the bug kind, anyway. Our renovation is (for the most part) over, we are back in the house, and the bugs are kicking the buckets as Jack Frost is on the way. However, we did get a Yorkie pup. His name is, oddly enough, Cricket. We sometimes call him Cricket Bug.

Livvy has this “thing” with crickets.

If only they didn’t bark! I think she would tolerate them better. LOL.

The New Pups

Well, they are now over a year old. When does a dog stop being a pup, and become a dog?

Anyway, this is just after their much-needed bath. Wow, dogs can be pretty stinky. lol. I am a cat person. I dislike most dogs, or am tolerant of some. Of all dogs, I like Yorkies the best, because they are so small and it’s easier to keep them contained and kept clean. And you don’t need a full-fledged super-liability insurance quote on Yorkies in the home, like you probably do with monster pit bulls or other dangerous dogs.

So life is, yeah. BUSY right now. What an understatement. Which reminds me, I’d better get off the computer and get back to work…

My Sweet Sweet Baby

Oooohhh isn’t she the cutest little thing?!?!

That’s my beautiful kitty, Livvy. She’s a Tabby Point Siamese. In this photo, she is trying to reach up to sniff the two new Yorkie dogs my daughter adopted. She is just so innocent, so curious. It makes me love her more. And in case you are wondering why her paws look so funny, she’s a polydactyl cat, with six toes on each paw. It makes he a tad clumsy, but it makes her look like she has thumbs. When her paws are rolled up– curled into a fist– it makes her look like those old Victorian casters on chairs, with the claw feet. She is so unique, so sweet. I love my kitty.

She is more curious than anything about the dogs. They bark, so she doesn’t like that. If they didn’t bark, I think she’d love to play with them. But I don’t think cats like barking…. maybe if dogs never barked, cats would tolerate them and the enmity between the animals would cease? I wonder.
