Horse ‘n Carriage

Horse n Carriage

Went to New York a few weeks ago. I spent lots of time wandering the streets, snapping photos. Unfortunately, I’d chosen to carry my cheapo Fuji point-and-shoot camera. New York City was like a steamy tropical jungle, and despite it’s Asian name, the camera did NOT like the atmosphere at all. It went wonky on me from time to time. I very much regret leaving my better camera at home.

Anyway, as I walked along 59th Avenue, a long line of horses, carriages, and their masters awaited customers. I wondered how long this business has been going on in New York. Since the very beginnings, perhaps? Business seemed slow. I guess maybe after 300 years of horses/carriages on the street, maybe people prefer taxis? I felt sorry for those poor creatures. Some stomped their feet in impatience. They deserve to be out in the country, running wild and getting the best ab workout that hay can provide (yes, I read Black Beauty as a child). Poor horses. The city life is a tough one.

Livvy Climbs to Bird

That’s my precious cat, Livvy, being bad. She KNOWS she’s not supposed to get to our cockatiel. But she insists on trying. If we dare leave a chair in the area of the cage, or should one of the taller kids venture toward the area, Livvy is on them. It’s rather funny, the way she climbs so persistently. Thank God she cannot reach my bird. There’s still a mighty long dip station between her and the cage, thank God! So far, she has not tried to jump up that high.

During our renovation, Livvy will be living upstairs while we tear the downstairs apart. We still have NO IDEA how we will keep the rascal contained, lol. That’s another thing I have to figure out for this massive project that will soon engulf my every waking moment…. Lord, help me!

Polydactyl Paws Pause

6 toes

My kitty is a polydactyl cat. I never had such a cat before. Her sixth toe is like an extra appendage, but it has no muscle– it’s got a claw and a paw pad, but she cannot control it at all. It makes her feet look big and clumsy. And she definitely moves clumsily, too! If pets qualify for health insurance in this day and age, would they also qualify for social security disability? I mean, she can’t do things that other cats can… like walk across my desk without tripping all over the books, keyboard, and coffee cups! :-p

But she’s quite the conversation piece. ;)

Cat in Sun

Watching cats bath themselves is relaxing. They are peaceful. So meticulous. So quiet. I need the quiet solitude right now; life is incredibly hectic. I am absolutely thrilled to have so much work at hand! It’s hard to believe that just six months ago, I was on the brink of anxiety, wondering where my income was going to come from. Lo and behold, God opens the doors and I have tons of work. I have been very, very blessed to work for a company that is well-managed and gives me plenty of work. I write on various topics, anything that interests me, from how to make wedding invitations to fact sheets about inventions. Plus, there’s blogging which is very pleasurable. But golly, I am so busy I have no time to relax.

So I enjoy watching my kitty, beside me, while she does it. :D
