Ready For Her Close Up

20 Nov

Isn’t she precious?

That’s Livvy, my Tabby-Point Siamese cat. She’s such a big girl now. Here she is, on a shelf looking down. She isn’t too fond of the camera, which explains that sour look on her face.

We still have no heat downstairs yet. We’re working on it! We are close to having the first section installed. The upstairs is nice and warm (it’s where we work during the day until we have heat downstairs), but the heat is electric baseboard. It’s so expensive that I cringe to use it. But it’s temporary- we hope to get a hydronic baseboard system installed next year.

We’re looking forward to a quiet holiday this year. I don’t “do” Black Friday after Thanksgiving, but I do like to check out Cyber Monday deals. I have found some very, very good prices on electronics at that time. My budget is much tighter this year, having spent a fortune on the new kitchen. I don’t regret renovating the kitchen, even though it put me in debt on my small income. The room was falling down over our heads, and we needed electricity and new everything. It’s over. done. finally. Now I pay it off! Lord, help me to do it.

I Love the Teen Years

All my kids are just amazing. Really. They are witty, intelligent, fun, friendly. Look at how cute that kid is. When other kids are “dissing” their parents or fretting about mild acne, this guy is having a blast with his “shades” and new bass guitar.

We watched an old bass guitar instructional video by Billy Sheehan. It was made sometime in the late 80s. It is hilarious! Not just the BIG HAIR hairstyles, but because Sheehan is so entertaining. He’s bright and very witty, as well as very good on the bass. I had no idea who Sheehan was before watching the video (after being informed by my musical hubs), but as he talked on the video and made goofy jokes and remarks, I thought, “Boy, this guy seems like he is from Upstate NY.” I asked my Hubs where Sheehan was from.

“Guess,” he said.

He can’t be from New York, I thought. Low-ball your guess, just in case. “Um… Connecticut New Jersey?” I timidly guessed.

“No.” he said. “He’s from New York! Buffalo!”

“I knew it!!” I said.

The Hubs just looked at me with a Suuuuure-You-Did look, and laughed.

I DID know it. I just didn’t say it. ;)

Anyway. I love my kids. They are in their teens and I can’t understand what all the societal hooplah is about teenagers?! Mine are TOTALLY amazing! I now wish that I had had more children so as to enjoy more of this!

Food Glorious Food

All during the renovation, I didn’t have much interest in food. I was much too busy to eat (let alone cook). And it was a long, hot summer so eating wasn’t very appealing (unless it was popsicles).

Ah, but now we have our kitchen back. :D

And now it’s autumn.

YUM. Food is so good right now. I especially love brussels sprouts and broccoli, currently. A little salt, a little cheese.. YUM. And we also have had pasta TWICE since cooking in the new kitchen. Yay! My daughter made some pies, too. Oh wow, we haven’t had pie in eons. It was marvelous!

I have to be careful. I lost a little (a LITTLE, *sigh*) weight while renovating. It’s nice to have it off and keep it off. I don’t want to eat so much that I’ll need a tow truck and roadside assistance plan to get me places! But it is so good to eat good food again.

And now if you will excuse me, I have a hamburger waiting for me. :)
