This is Why My Knees Are Killing Me

DR floor2

This is just a portion of the floor of the dining room, the floor that I repaired and installed new flooring on last night. I was up until 2 am, installing the flooring! And I didn’t even get it all done! What a job!

But in the scope of things, the flooring is relatively easy to install. I installed vinyl plank flooring– the planks stick to each other, and creates a “floating floor” system. The vinyl is supposedly very durable (even though it tore a little in the kitchen already). It’s “OK” in cost. EVERYTHING is expensive to me, so I am not a good judge of these things. And it’s easy enough to cut, etc. It’s just difficult for me to be on my hands and knees for hours and hours! Like weight loss pills that work, installing flooring is a marvelous way to lose weight. UGH. I was totally exhausted.

I’ll post some “after photos” when I have the energy to take them…

No Man is an Island Unto Himself…

Building ISland

Here’s The Hubs, in a surprise “Gotcha” shot while installing the kitchen island. Hahah! Working with wood is good for the muscles, ya know, a virtual forceps male enhancement product… my arms only ache, still, after 4 months of renovation work… :S

The island is a very important kitchen feature for us. Since there are six of us here (not counting the pets), there are always multiple people buzzing around n the room. The island helps to divert traffic and tasks. This is a big one– I bought it for its storage space. I was hoping to be able to insert a roll-out kitchen garbage bin, too, but it won’t fit. Alack.

The island was made in China, though (what ISN’T these days?!), and we were absolutely appalled at the poor workmanship and horrible instructions. For such an expensive island, I am very, very disappointed. I hate all our manufacturing going to China. Their products stink. When can we have our country back again, please?

Cute Bandaids…

I’ve used THREE already!

My daughter won these from a very sweet contest that was held at A Glimpse of Beautiful. The band aids are very cute– they have two little kids with wings (is that what angels look like? lol) and scripture verses about healing on them. What a great idea for band aids! Not only is scripture for “instruction, reproof,” etc, it’s also LIFE, our HEALING, and the best best anti aging product around!

I installed flooring in the Dining Room last night. Talk about aging. Oy, my aching muscles! :S My hands were so full of splinters and sores that I used up quite a few of these scripture band aids. I do feel better already, though. :D
