Superior Education Opportunities- Online!

22 Feb

I looked into getting an online education and degree several years ago. Did you know that just ten years ago, there was next to nothing available online? And even what there was, it was scorned at by “higher” education! Today, howevr, it’s a totally different story. Yay! The sky is the limit (well, that’s how I feel!) for getting a terrific education and a degree! The doors of opportunity are open.

One such online university, Western Governor’s University, offers a spectacular training and degree program. They offer Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in such fields as education, business, health professions, and more. WGU is a fully accredited education institution– they offer the same excellent education with the same rigorous training that you’d expect from any university. However, WGU offers it all online, which spells convenience– you learn at home without having to juggle schedules, a job, transportation, living expenses, and more. You can get an online nursing degree, which is a highly coveted field right now. WGU is non-profit, and it’s much more affordable than other colleges. Check out the website for more details.

Day Trip

Potato Hill Rd Adirondacks 2

I’m excited. I’m going to take a day trip up to the Adirondacks this weekend. I just can’t wait. I haven’t really explored them a great deal (I’ve always lived in Central and Western New York State), so it will be a great experience. We’ll be traveling up to Tupper Lake, a place I’ve never seen before. It’s a 3-hour drive, yikes, but it will be quite an adventure. I’m also renting a car for the occasion, which is really fun! We had our choice between a Honda, Chrysler, Toyota, and Subaru- guess which one we’re trying? It’s not a Honda, we can’t afford any Corolla short sales, Iacocca has nothing to do with it… yes it’s a Subaru! An Outback, oo lala. I have never driven one before. Never even ridden in one before! But it’s got all-wheel drive and therefore will manage the snowy roads of the Adirondacks suitably.

I can’t wait! I haven’t been on a trip in so long. We’ll have loads and loads of photos, so stay tuned!

The Girl in Red

Livvy in Red

She’s real cute, isn’t she?! :D Tonight she’s a terror. She won’t eat her Friskies; she wants Temptation instead, *huff*. I think I have spoiled her. :-p Next thing you know, she’ll want wii accessories and a foot massage. :-p

Happy Valentine’s Day. :) It was a quiet day for me; I don’t “do” holidays much, except for Thanksgiving Day and Independence Day. Most holidays are far too commercialized, and I prefer to keep plugging away at things rather than stop for a holiday every 3-4 weeks.

We still have snow here (got 3 new inches) but it’s been a winter of sparse snow. I hear the Deep South is going to get clobbered again. Wouldn’t it be strange if the hemisphere suddenly tilted and WE in New York got tropical weather and the South was stricken with 6 months of winter every year?

The Cube Spill

Cube Spill

We call it “The Cube.” It’s Livvy’s kitty cube. She likes it (although she prefers the corner of the couch primarily). Sometimes when she is frazzled and needs to be near me (I am always at my desk), I plunk the cube near where I am sitting. She is calmed and hides in her cube for a nap. The Cube has been in various places throughout the house. It doesn’t help that I tend to rearrange furniture ALL the time. I just get bored with the current arrangement. I don’t know if Livvy likes it when I move her cube. Whenever it’s in a new place, she slowly walks up to it and thoroughly sniffs it. Then, she settles in it in a grand home theater seating way… as if she’s saying she’s ready for her close up, Mr. De Mille….

Well, I had placed the cube up higher this time– off the floor and on a shelf. She loved it (she loves heights). She slept so well in the living room’s stratosphere that she really relaxed. Yeah, she stretched a little too far. It looked like she was spilling out of The Cube. Good thing she didn’t fall out! It’s a long 5-foot drop to the hard floor!

Silly Putty Parakeet

Silly Putty Parakeet

The kids are into school high-gear these days. The holidays are officially behind us, and therefore we are chugging along full steam. I have to be careful that the kids don’t burn out– they need to pause during the day, just to get their eyes off their books and cool off their brains. :D But the breaks are short and don’t afford a great deal of time to relax. So, the children have devised small diversions. Like wrapping a resin parakeet in a hat and jacket made of Silly Putty. LOL. When I saw that hat, I burst out laughing.

We finally got some nicer office furniture for desks– some of the kids had been relying on old shelving boards for desktops– I picked up a very inexpensive student desk for $20! And an office chair was half off! Slowly but surely, we are moving out the old (some of the furniture I’ve had since I was a teen) and introducing the new. Thank God for my new job that has made this possible. I also need to save up for my new kitchen that we’re renovating this year! ;)
