Pink Door Detail in Seneca Falls

25 Feb

In a previous post, I displayed a photo I’d taken of a cute faux wall painted next to a florist shop in Seneca Falls. As we drew nearer to the wall, this is what we saw in the handle of the “door.”

*giggle*

It was nice to see that some folks in Seneca Falls still retain their sense of humor. :) Like I mentioned previously, many of the shops we passed by were empty. But the city seems clean. I did not see one bit of graffiti, although I did see a few folks wearing funky rocawear outfits, lol. One kid had green hair. Maybe he’s Irish, it IS almost St. Patrick’s Day. :-p

Great Legs

I think some folks at Seneca Falls have great humor. :D

This photo was taken at the Women’s Rights National Park in Seneca Falls, NY. I took loads of photos, and many of the topics and displays were very serious (child labor, women’s poor health, etc), but this was a bit of whimsy amongst the seriousness. And it shows SO well the prejudice women have had to endure for eons. Hello! Women are not totally wrapped up in how their nails look or how to get rid of whiteheads on face!! There’s more to life than that! Women can think, too!

It is a good museum. I’ll have much more to say when I blog about it on my main travel blog. And the photos are great! Stay tuned!

Pink Door in Seneca Falls

Pink 1

While walking down a street in Seneca Falls, NY, we came across a colorfully painted wall. It was beside a florist shop. How very creative!

Seneca Falls, NY, is reputed to be the town that Frank Capra patterned the imaginary Bedford Falls after for It’s a Wonderful Life. I don’t know if it is just hearsay– if Capra ever directly said he patterned the town after Seneca Falls?– but Seneca Falls certainly seems to take it seriously! The town has a few cute little places like Hotel Clarence and a shop named “ZuZu.” And there was a large building that had a banner about a theatrical show named after Gorge Bailey. Apparently, there’s an “It’s a Wonderful Life” Museum in the town, but I did not see anything, and actually found out about the museum after I got home!

Seneca Falls itself, like all the other Upstate cities, are in decline. Perhaps half of the buildings we walked past on the busy side street were empty, their windows full of dust or plastered with billboards for safe diet pills that work. The city was once a very beautiful and bustling place, as evidenced by the beautiful architecture and wide streets. I hope New York State rebounds from her economic woes. Upstate is too precious and beautiful.

Light and Mouse

Just a random photo.

I don’t know what it is with me, I LIKE pink! How’d that happen?

I’ve always had rather esoteric likes when it come to color. While other kids liked blue or red or yellow as their favorite colors, I liked “indigo.” I like the color purple, but not so much red in it. Indigo is a lovely color. But people would look at me strangely and wonder what sort of artsy type I was turning out to be. ;) Little would they suspect that I would like pink. ME! PINK!

I am also starting to like yellow for the first time in my life. YELLOW! What is happening to me?!??!

I like lemon yellow right now. Maybe it’s because the color is so beautifully bright, especially as it glows on an HDTV. Especially during a most gloomy gray and tiresome winter. Yellow is looking REALLY good these days.

What’s your favorite color? Has it changed over the years?

Random Silliness

Taken at a corn maze in October.

I can’t believe I never got around to blogging about that in any great detail. Well, I did on my one travel blog. But on my “big” travel blog, I said nothing. Ugh. I’ve not been motivated for any “in depth” kind of blogging lately. Not for a while, actually. When I started blogging, I had lots of time and ideas for fun stories, opinion pieces, nice journals and narratives. Now, I am too busy to do anything. Every once in a while, I pop out a nicely-thought piece. But overall, I feel like I am chattering, just blabbing about lightweight stuff, like my day or my favorites colors or best weight loss supplements. Certainly these have some merit (blog readers like personal stories)…. but I don’t have that kind of free time anymore. I’m not unhappy, though. I have a great job and I am earning money. A GREAT feeling.

Hopefully I’ll have time for more than random silliness. :D
