I’ve been organizing my summer travel photos (finally). I realized to my horror that I hadn’t even edited our visit to Fraunces Tavern in New York City (haven’t even blogged about it yet!!). I had already wiped out the SD camera card!!! But thank God, I had the raw photos on my computer. Score one, Mom. Close one.

I found a few very nice Hudson River photos in the bunch. The photo, above, is one of them. I snapped them while on the train ride home. Train travel is so pleasant. I really can’t wait to go again. I must first earn a bit more cash to afford those tickets, however. I’m not earning the salary of raleigh attorneys, let’s put it that way. But I do hope to go soon. There is always so much to see!

We were only there an hour. I could have spent days. *sigh*

The photo is of Virginia Beach, my first time there (and, Lord willing, not my last). It was marvelous! The weather was slightly cool, so the beach was relatively quiet. If you squint you may be able to see a lone surfer on the distant waves. There’s a surf club near the area, and we got to watch a few newbies try out the waves. The surfers tie their boards to the their ankles, something that surprised me. I suppose it was tethered to be a sort of lifeboat, but what if the waves knocked the board on your head?

Anyway, it was a pleasant hour. The smell of barbeque cooking on electric grills filled the boardwalk. What a wonderful area. It would be great to own property there someday. *sighhh*

Well, its not New York… but it is the Atlantic Ocean! The beautiful Atlantic Ocean! Visiting Virginia Beach was my favorite part of our recent vacation to the lovely state of Virginia, where the beauty is barely surpassed by the deliciously low taxes. It’s like another world down there!

The beach was surprisingly uncrowded, too. No scantily-clad men and women concerned about low testosterone symptoms, or anything of the sort. There were actually a few surfers there (we visited 40th street, near a surfing club). It was great fun to watch them try out the waves.

Oh when I close my eyes, I can hear the waves crashing along the sandy shore… I cannot wait until I get to see it again!

That’s the old hot water heater. It’s dead. You can see the waterline from the flooding, and the motor oil that spilled into the water.

We were two days without hot water, which wasn’t a big deal. I was actually sweating out how we were going to get a plumber over here so quickly to install our new tank…. I wasn’t even sure I could locate his rack card printing card phone number! It was a Friday morning and the house and yard were all mud and and I didn’t think he’d be able to come until Monday or Tuesday. FIVE DAYS without hot water?! No way. We were a muddy mess from the cleanup and needed showers.

So the husband installed the water tank!!!!! Can you believe it?! He did the gas line and everything! Oh I love him!!

I just wish it would STOP raining. For a LONG time.
