Chittenango Church

This was probably once a beautiful church. But it’s difficult to see, now, since the building is plastered in horrid asbestos-cement siding. Must be the ugliest siding in the world. Taken along Route 5 in Chittenango, NY.

This was the St. Parick’s Catholic Church which I attended as a child growing up in Chittenango. It was converted to apartments in the late 1960s after the new church building on Route 5 west of town was built. The house to the right was the rectory, home to the priest (Father Duhamel during the time I attended the church) and there was a hall in back of the church used for classes and social events.
