Freaky Snowstorm

10 May

We woke up to heavily-falling snow yesterday. I stepped outside to snap a few photos; by the time I was done, I was drenched. The stuff was really wet and heavy. My poor flowers and shrubs, they looked like they had a sudden need for eczema treatment or dandruff shampoo. According to the weather dudes, we haven’t had snow on Mother’s Day for *only* 14 years.

My grapevine has buds and my garden was all planted the previous day… I don’t think there’s any damage, but we’ve for a freeze warning again for tonight. Spring is very very slow in coming this year. The weather has been crazy for about 15 years now…. torrential flooding in the early 2000s, unusually cold springs for the past few years…. *sigh* It’s tough for us garden lovers, and those of us who have very short growing seasons. The last thing I want is my 3.5 months of good weather to be encroached upon by MORE snow and cold! Go away!
